Welcome to Downing Care

Downing Care has been providing high-quality residential care and support for adults with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Epilepsy and Autism for more than twenty years. We have four homes across Hampshire and Surrey, all of which have been rated either good or outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
We understand that choosing a home for a loved one with support needs and disabilities can be a difficult and very stressful time. At Downing Care we endeavour to build trusting and open relationships with families and those needing our support, guiding and assisting them throughout the admission process.
We respect the rights of our residents to lead a safe, happy and fulfilled life and our staff are fully committed to supporting them to achieve this.

Dignified care
At Downing Care we implement a personalised and integrated care planning approach which addresses the full range of the resident’s needs while taking into account their abilities, health, communication needs, social interests, family support and cultural background.

Individual activities
Every resident is involved in the development of their own programme of activities, based around their interests and desires, whether that be in the arts, music, drama , sport, cooking, or just going to the pub or shopping.

Homely facilities
All our care homes are fully furnished with a home from home look and feel. It is important to us to make sure that the atmosphere remains relaxed and comfortable for all residents and staff work in a way that encourages a positive and stress-free environment.

Blue Cedars in Farnborough is currently where my daughter has lived for many years. The accommodation is first class and the care she receives is even better. The building although very modern with all facilities is just still bricks and mortar, what makes Blue Cedars special is the staff who care for my daughter 24 hours a day to all her individual needs. The staff at her home are I believe the best in the business and are always willing to go that extra mile for the residents to the point they will even give up time with their own families to give that extra care when needed. It is because of the care at this house that allows me and my wife a life knowing that the most precious thing in my life (my daughter) is being well cared for and looked after to the highest standard. I can say no more well done, Blue Cedars and long may it continue.

The Chestnuts is a lovely place for your family member to live. Every morning he is given a shower and a shave, his medication is given on time, the staff are very friendly and talk to the residents, the food is excellent, everyone is clean and the home smells pleasant. Residents do get taken out regularly and have a holiday every year. There are weekly activities and the residents are taken to their day centres. A lovely place.

I have been a resident at Jasmine House for 7 months and think it is a really nice care home and environment. What I like here is that I get to lead my own independent life and I am able to choose what I wish to do with my weekdays and weekends. For example, with the support of staff, I have been able to access adult education in Farnham. Staff have helped me and my family adapt my bedroom for my needs and personalise my room. I feel valued. I work with staff to help support my physical and dietary needs and to support the staff I have joined a local group.

Our son has been a resident at Tall Oaks since October 2019 and we love it. The staff have made every effort to make him feel welcome and have involved us in every decision and made his transition into his new home go really smoothly. When Covid-19 hit the world the team followed every possible guidance and kept the house safe, although it was hard not to see our son for a period of time we were telephoned and emailed to make us aware of how things were doing in the house. They had to make sure all the residents were safe and protected and their hard work has been proven as there have been no cases of Covid within Tall Oaks. We as a family cannot thank the manager and her team enough for looking after our son and his fellow residents.
