Welcome to Downing Care
Downing Care has been providing high-quality residential care and support for adults with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Epilepsy, and Autism for more than twenty years. We have four homes across Hampshire and Surrey, all of which have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
We understand that choosing a home for a loved one with support needs and disabilities can be a difficult and very stressful time. At Downing Care we endeavour to build trusting and open relationships with families and those needing our support, guiding and assisting them throughout the admission process.
We respect the rights of our residents to lead a safe, happy and fulfilled life and our staff are fully committed to supporting them to achieve this.
Please contact us should you require any information currently not available on the website – 07920 106781
At Downing Care we implement a personalised and integrated care planning approach which addresses the full range of the resident’s needs while taking into account their abilities, health, communication needs, social interests, family support and cultural background.
Every resident is involved in the development of their own programme of activities, based around their interests and desires, whether that might be in the arts, music, drama , sport, cooking, or just going to the pub or shopping.
All our care homes are fully furnished with a home from home look and feel. It is important to us to make sure that the atmosphere remains relaxed and comfortable for all residents and staff work in a way that encourages a positive and stress-free environment.

Helen Jones – Home Manager
Tall Oaks & Acting Manager, Blue Cedars
Helen has worked in care, and specifically in the provision of care for adults with learning disabilities, for more than 20 years. Her initial experience of working in and managing challenging behaviour services gave her an insight into understanding the potential that exists in every individual, no matter what their level of ability, to achieve even the smallest of goals. Helen loves working in care and is passionate about supporting every resident to be as independent as possible and to enjoy life. Helen joined Downing Care in 2007 and is the Registered Home Manager for Blue Cedars and Acting Manager at Tall Oaks in Farnborough.
Blue Cedars in Farnborough is currently where my daughter has lived for many years. The accommodation is first class and the care she receives is even better. The building although very modern with all facilities is just still bricks and mortar, what makes Blue Cedars special is the staff who care for my daughter 24 hours a day to all her individual needs. The staff at her home are I believe the best in the business and are always willing to go that extra mile for the residents to the point they will even give up time with their own families to give that extra care when needed. It is because of the care at this house that allows me and my wife a life knowing that the most precious thing in my life (my daughter) is being well cared for and looked after to the highest standard. I can say no more well done, Blue Cedars and long may it continue.
The Chestnuts is a lovely place for your family member to live. Every morning he is given a shower and a shave, his medication is given on time, the staff are very friendly and talk to the residents, the food is excellent, everyone is clean and the home smells pleasant. Residents do get taken out regularly and have a holiday every year. There are weekly activities and the residents are taken to their day centres. A lovely place.
I feel that my son receives the highest standard of care and support both physical and emotional support. His health care needs are met appropriately and in my son's best interest. Communication between Jasmine House and myself is excellent. I highly recommend all the staff and manager, thank you.
